Ruto Says UDA-ODM Must Win the 2027 Election
President urges broad-based government partners to unite behind the alliance, warning that an opposition victory could pose a threat to Kenya.

President William Ruto has declared that the emerging UDA-ODM partnership must win the 2027 General Election, urging leaders within the broad-based government to remain united as they prepare for the polls.
Speaking during a political retreat in Naivasha, Ruto said the partnership had no option but to secure victory in the 2027 election. He called on leaders from the two political formations to work together and build a strong political organisation capable of retaining power.
The President also warned that, in his view, an opposition victory could be dangerous for the country, arguing that Kenyans should carefully consider the consequences of changing government leadership at the next election.
Ruto's remarks came as senior leaders from UDA and ODM met to strengthen their political cooperation and discuss a common agenda ahead of the 2027 polls. The two parties have also agreed to work towards developing a joint 2027 election manifesto, with a 10-member team expected to help formulate the coalition's shared agenda.
The President urged members of the broad-based government to focus on areas of common interest and present a united front to voters. He expressed confidence that the partnership could secure victory if its members remained committed to working together.
The emerging partnership has, however, attracted differing reactions within political circles, with some opposition figures questioning the cooperation while others within ODM have embraced closer ties with the government.
As political activity intensifies, the UDA-ODM partnership is expected to remain at the centre of Kenya's political conversation, with the two sides seeking to consolidate their support and shape a common platform ahead of the 2027 General Election.
