Ruto and ODM Move to Develop Joint 2027 Manifesto

President William Ruto and ODM leader Oburu Oginga have announced plans for UDA and ODM to develop a joint manifesto ahead of the 2027 General Election, marking another significant step in the growing political partnership between the two formations.

The announcement came after a retreat in Naivasha attended by leaders from the broad-based government, where discussions focused on the future of the political partnership and preparations for the next General Election.

President Ruto said the proposed manifesto would be built around the shared priorities of the two political formations while incorporating the aspirations and views of Kenyans.

To help formalise the coalition's agenda, Ruto and Oburu are expected to nominate a 10-member joint team comprising representatives from both sides. The team will be tasked with developing the common manifesto and helping advance the coalition's political framework ahead of the 2027 polls.

The move further formalises the political cooperation between Kenya Kwanza and ODM, which has been operating under the broad-based government. The partnership is expected to focus on shared policy priorities and the development agenda that the two sides intend to present to voters in 2027.

The emerging alliance, however, comes amid political differences within ODM, with some leaders questioning the party's continued cooperation with the government while others support the partnership.
