Rwandan giants defeat Kenyan champions 2-1 after extra time to lift the regional title.
Rayon Sports FC have been crowned CECAFA Kagame Cup champions after defeating Kenya's Gor Mahia FC 2-1 after extra time in a dramatic final.
The Rwandan giants took the lead through Kameni in the 29th minute before Gor Mahia responded after the break, with Shariff Musa equalising in the 55th minute.
With neither side able to find a winner in regulation time, the final went into extra time where the decisive moment came in the 101st minute, when D. Muhoza scored for Rayon Sports to restore their lead. Gor Mahia were unable to find another equaliser as Rayon Sports held on for a 2-1 victory after extra time.
The triumph marks a significant achievement for Rayon Sports, who have added another regional title to their history. Gor Mahia, meanwhile, will reflect on a hard-fought campaign that saw the Kenyan champions reach the final after their dramatic 8-7 penalty-shootout victory over Sudanese side Al Hilal in the semi-final.
The result brings the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup campaign to a thrilling conclusion, with Rayon Sports celebrating regional glory while Gor Mahia settled for the runners-up position.
