Police Order Abdi Sebu to Surrender Over Alleged Role in Homa Bay Violence

Police have ordered businessman Abdi Sebu to surrender to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Homa Bay over his alleged involvement in violence that disrupted a Linda Mwananchi political tour in the county.

Sebu has reportedly been linked by investigators to the unrest that occurred in Homa Bay on August 16, when violence disrupted political activities in the area. He has been directed to report to the Homa Bay County DCI headquarters as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the clashes.

The directive comes as authorities intensify investigations into the violence, which reportedly resulted in injuries, property damage and several arrests. Detectives are also pursuing other individuals believed to have been involved in the unrest.

Several suspects have already been arraigned in connection with the incidents, while police have warned that anyone found to have participated in violence, destruction of property or other criminal activities will face the law.

The Homa Bay unrest occurred as Linda Mwananchi leaders conducted political activities in the county. The movement condemned the disruption and called for political gatherings to be allowed to take place peacefully.

Sebu's reported connection to the violence remains an allegation, and being ordered to surrender does not amount to a finding of guilt. Investigators will be expected to establish whether he played any role in the incidents and determine whether further legal action is warranted.

The development comes amid heightened political activity across Kenya as various political formations intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election. Authorities are expected to continue investigating the Homa Bay violence as they work to identify those responsible and determine whether charges should be brought against additional suspects.
