Linda Mwananchi Convoy Reportedly Tear-Gassed on its way to Homa Bay

The Linda Mwananchi movement has condemned an incident in which its convoy was reportedly tear-gassed as it approached Homa Bay town on Sunday evening, with movement leaders claiming that one vehicle was also set ablaze.
According to leaders associated with the movement, the convoy came under attack while heading into Homa Bay for political engagements. They alleged that some of their vehicles were targeted and that access to certain roads was blocked as they attempted to proceed with their activities.
The reported confrontation caused tension in the area, with members of the convoy forced to navigate the disruption as political leaders condemned what they described as an attempt to interfere with their meetings.
Linda Mwananchi politicians accused authorities and government-aligned leaders of attempting to prevent them from holding political meetings, arguing that opposition groups should be allowed to conduct their activities peacefully and exercise their right to assembly.
The leaders also criticised President William Ruto, accusing his administration of using state machinery to frustrate political opponents and restrict their freedom of assembly. The allegations had not been independently established at the time of publication.
The incident comes as Linda Mwananchi continues to expand its political activities across the country ahead of the 2027 General Election, with its leaders seeking to strengthen grassroots support and mobilise residents in different parts of the country.
