Kawempe Muslim Win CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers

Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies have been crowned champions of the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Qualifiers after defeating Kenya’s Police Bullets 1-0 after extra time at Kigali Pele Stadium in Rwanda.

The tightly contested final remained goalless after 90 minutes, forcing the two sides into extra time as they battled for the region’s sole qualification slot to the continental finals.

Kawempe Muslim eventually broke the deadlock in the 100th minute when captain Agnes Nabukenya scored from close range to give the Ugandan champions the lead.

Police Bullets pushed forward in search of an equaliser and a chance to force a penalty shootout, but Kawempe Muslim held firm to secure the victory and the CECAFA title.

The Ugandan champions completed an impressive campaign, winning all four of their matches in the tournament. They opened with a 1-0 victory over Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, followed it with an emphatic 8-0 win over FC Ujeco of Djibouti and then defeated CBE 3-0 in the semi-finals.

For Police Bullets, the defeat ended their hopes of reaching the CAF Women’s Champions League finals after they had booked their place in the regional final with a convincing 5-0 semi-final victory over South Sudan’s Yei Joint Stars.

Kawempe Muslim’s triumph earns Uganda the CECAFA slot at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League finals, where the Ugandan side will represent the region against the continent’s leading women’s club teams.

The qualification marks a major milestone for Kawempe Muslim, who will now shift their focus to the continental stage after completing a dominant campaign in Kigali and securing their place among Africa’s top women’s club sides.
