Gachagua Declares Campaign to Send Kenya Kwanza Home Has Begun
Former Deputy President launches fresh push against the Ruto administration as opposition mobilisation intensifies one year before the 2027 General Election.

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has declared that the campaign to remove the Kenya Kwanza administration from power has officially begun, stepping up his political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during a rally in Narok East Constituency on Monday, Gachagua told supporters that the opposition had one year to mobilise Kenyans for political change and challenge President William Ruto at the ballot.
Gachagua noted that August 10, 2026, marked exactly one year to the scheduled August 10, 2027 General Election. He urged political leaders to listen to the concerns of ordinary Kenyans as the country enters the final year before the next electoral contest.
The former Deputy President accused the Kenya Kwanza administration of failing Kenyans, arguing that his political movement would campaign for a change of leadership. He maintained that the opposition should use the remaining year to consolidate its support and present an alternative to the current government.
The Narok East rally forms part of Gachagua's ongoing efforts to expand the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) beyond its traditional Mt Kenya support base. His latest tour has seen him engage residents in Narok and other parts of the country as he seeks to build a broader national political network.
The former Deputy President also received support from several local leaders during the tour, while nine Members of County Assembly from Kajiado County recently joined DCP after defecting from different political parties.
Gachagua's declaration comes as political activity intensifies across Kenya, with both the government and opposition camps stepping up mobilisation efforts exactly one year before the 2027 polls.
With the countdown to the election now entering its final year, Gachagua and other opposition leaders are expected to intensify efforts to unite their supporters and challenge the Kenya Kwanza administration at the ballot.
