Deogratius Ndejembi Selected as Tanzania’s Next Vice President
Former Energy Minister Deogratius John Ndejembi has been selected to succeed Emmanuel Nchimbi following his resignation from Tanzania’s second-highest office.

Deogratius John Ndejembi has been selected as Tanzania’s next Vice President, succeeding Emmanuel Nchimbi, who recently resigned from the country’s second-highest office.
Ndejembi, who previously served as Tanzania’s Minister for Energy, was chosen to take over the position following Nchimbi’s departure, which was accepted by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
The transition marks a significant change in Tanzania’s political leadership, bringing an end to Nchimbi’s tenure as Vice President and setting the stage for Ndejembi to take up the role under President Samia’s administration.
Ndejembi is expected to complete the necessary constitutional procedures before formally assuming office, including parliamentary approval and taking the oath of office.
Once the process is completed and he is formally sworn in, Ndejembi will become Tanzania’s second-highest-ranking government official and play a key role in supporting the President and the administration.
His selection has drawn attention across East Africa as Tanzania prepares for a new chapter in its political leadership following Nchimbi’s unexpected resignation.
